GLUTTON Guitar Company
About the Luthier

Scott VanderSchel has always had a passion for music and the guitar has been his greatest inspiration. He simply loves everything about the instruments and the people who play them.

With lifelong interests in woodworking and electronics as well as a great deal of patience and a natural ability to solve mechanical problems, guitar repair and luthiery seemed a natural direction for Scott. Over the years he developed the knowledge and tools to build and repair nearly any guitar. He has been honing his craft making the kind of instruments he likes to experience and play.

Glutton Guitar Company is about hand built quality. That guitar you may not need but have always wanted. Beautiful tone woods with nitrocellulose finishes, shell inlay, all wood bindings, lightly sculpted bracing, premium hardware and electronics. With many options available, instruments can be built to the client's specifications.

Building a guitar is delicate work to say the least. A good deal of one’s time is spent learning from mistakes. But the reward of making a premium instrument by hand for someone to enjoy for years to come is worth the effort in Scott’s opinion. Though some would say he is a glutton for punishment.

Comments:

This guitar is beautiful. It plays beautiful, sounds wonderful. The craftsmanship is perfect. It's the best guitar I've ever played, that's why it's mine! I couldn't ask for a better instrument.

Scott builds aesthetically beautiful instruments, with great attention to detail. However, good looks mean nothing if the guitar does not play superbly and sound great. The dreadnought guitar I tried was a dream to finger. It's effortless action lent itself to my solo finger style playing, and it's rich, well balanced tone was equally suited for strummed accompaniment as well as solo repertoire. Anyone in the market for a high quality, hand built instrument owes it to themselves to check out Glutton Guitars.

Start to finish it couldn't have gone better. Before even beginning Scott asked knowledgeable questions to understand what I might want from the finished product, sound and appearance. Scott provided updates on a consistent basis and shared pictures of the process along the way without giving away how awesome the final product would be.

The finish is amazing, the sound is amazing. All my guitar friends are jealous.
